Introduction

iSkate are delighted to have partnered with AST GmbH to provide Sales, Service and Hire of the AST range of products in the UK, including the WM resurfacing machines.

AST have continually innovated over the last 30 years since they installed their first rink, leading to the development of the Skate Box & Skateway range of products for the temporary ice rink market.

Their unique design is a proven, reliable system with over 200 temporary rinks installed successfully every winter.

The flexibility and modularity of their equipment, allows designers complete freedom of creativity.

Temporary Rink Operators no longer have to be constrained by the ’standard’ rectangular layout. We can now support you to design Ice Paths, Ice Slides, Skate Luges, Ice Walls and Circular Rinks, alongside your main rink as part of an integrated system. iSkate can also supply a range of equipment and accessories to successfully operate the rink.

AST Ice Box System

The AST Ice Boxes are constructed from hot-dipped galvanised steel and come complete with aluminium treadplate covers.

The matts are extruded from durable EDPM rubber with each of the eight 8mm tubes pre-connected to the header flow and return pipes, pre-fitted into each Ice Box.

With no connections to make other than on the headers, the matt is simply rolled out in situ.

With the ice matts are rolled up and stored on top of the Ice Boxes, removable transport brackets enable trouble-free stacking for transport and storage

AST Skate Box System

The AST Skate Boxes are similar to the Ice Box system.

The Ice matts are detachable and use six 12 mm tubes with their own connectors, giving improved thermal performance. The ice matts are stored and transported seperately.

This system allows additional ice matt lengths to be joined end to end, giving full configurability on both length and width.

AST Skateway System

Using the interchangeable Skate Box ice matts in conjunction with a low- profile, in-ice header, allows full creativity in your design.

AST Ice Matt

The AST ice matts consist of a closely-spaced array of narrow tubes made from extruded EDMP rubber.

The ice matt profile promotes good cooling performance and efficiency in a number of ways:

The geometry of the extrusion is designed to create a very large surface area for effective thermal transfer
The close spacing of the tubes is designed to create uniform cooling
The lower overall height compared to other systems, allows for an overall reduced depth of ice to be made.

These factors reduce the overall demand on the chiller plant, improving cooling efficiency and reducing energy costs.

The very nature of the material allows it to follow the contours of the ground / platform and for the invividual ice matts to be overlapped, allowing complete freedom of design and layout.
